<b>MEBANE</b> — More than 150 employees from Mebane will soonbe out of work.

The 3C Alliance, a partnership formed by Toshiba Battery Company, VARTABattery and Duracell Incorporated announced Tuesday that the plant willstop making certain products in its Mebane facility bySeptember and close the plant by the end of the year.

The facility will stop producing cells used in rechargeable batteriesfor portable computers, camcorders and cell phones.
