DURHAM — Every summer water spots are packed with hundreds of people trying to beatthe heat. That's why it's important to make sure everyone knows the rulesof the water.
Dozens of families came out Saturday to learn more about water safetytoday at Falls Lake. The Aquatic Safety for Kids program helped teacheveryone what to do when they hit the water.
Janet Morton says her kids learned about floation devices and other thingsthey wouldn't normally think about.
The water safety program also teaches young swimmers about hypothermiaand the importance of watching weather conditions while in the water.
