DURHAM — Every summer water spots are packed with hundreds of people trying to beat the heat. That's why it's important to make sure everyone knows the rules of the water.
Dozens of families came out Saturday to learn more about water safety today at Falls Lake. The Aquatic Safety for Kids program helped teach everyone what to do when they hit the water.
Janet Morton says her kids learned about floation devices and other things they wouldn't normally think about.
The water safety program also teaches young swimmers about hypothermia and the importance of watching weather conditions while in the water.
