RALEIGH — When the temperature soars, many people seek relief in cool water. But a dip in the pool turned deadly for a little 8-year-old boy Wednesday.

Investigators say the boy was swimming with a large group of adults and children at Hampton Ridge Swim Club. Other children saw his body at the bottom of the pool and screamed for help. The water was about 5 feet deep.

Three lifeguards were on duty at the time of the drowning, but they were unable to revive the boy with CPR.
