Burmeister the Subject of Former FBI Investigation

e-mail print friendly

There's disturbing new information Wednesday about a former Fort Bragg soldier convicted of killing two black Fayetteville residents.

The FBI says it checked out James Burmeister on criminal conspiracy allegations in the months before he gunned down a Michael James and Jackie Burden back in 1995. The investigation had nothing to do with racial prejudice.

Federal agents were looking into a tip that Burmeister threatened to kill the police chief of Philadelphia.

You can learn more about Burmeister's disturbing past, plus a take look at skinheads in the 90's on CBS's "48 Hours" Thursday night at 10:00 p.m.
