<b>FAYETTEVILLE</b> — There's disturbing new information Wednesday about a former Fort Braggsoldier convicted of killing two black Fayetteville residents.

The FBI says it checked out James Burmeister on criminal conspiracyallegations in the months before he gunned down a Michael James and JackieBurden back in 1995.  The investigation had nothing to do with racialprejudice.

Federal agents were looking into a tip that Burmeister threatened to killthe police chief of Philadelphia.
