Vandals Cause Sewage Back-Up in Cary Lake

CARY — A lake in Cary is full of sewage and police say vandals are to blame.
More than 500,000 gallons of raw sewage backed up into a lake in the Lochmere Highlands subdivision. Investigators say vandals threw large rocks and wood into a nearby manhole causing the sewage overflow.
Local resident Richard Williams says the incident is a shame. The lake is something the kids use for fishing and boating. The adults enjoy walking and running around it. It's a sad thing to see happen to a neighborhood like Lochmere.
Crews will work through the weekend to flush out the lake. They will test the water on Monday. So far, police don't have any suspects.
