Coastline Hit Again, This Time by Insurance Rates

Posted Updated

WILMINGTON — People along the Carolina Coastline gotslammed by Hurricanes Fran and Bertha. Now, they may get slammed byinsurance companies.

A Wilmington-based State Farm agent expects all insurance companies toask for rate increases in coming months. After Hurricane Andrew rippedthough Florida in 1992, insurance rates rose about 88%.

If rates do increase here, they're not predicted to go up nearly asmuch.
