Thompson agreed to a search of his home where police found photos, wine coolers and cigarettes. The investigation is continuing.
Thompson has taught nuclear physics at UNC for 27 years. Police say the arrest of the tenured professor stems from statements they took from the two teenage boys.
Chapel Hill Police Lt. Marvin Clark told WRAL-TV5'sMark Robertsthe teens told police about the items they were exposed to in Thompson's home.
The two boys were apparently under the professor's care at the time. He called police to report the boys missing and when police found them, they told their story.
