LUMBERTON — Police have new information on last week's double murder in Lumberton. While they still have no suspects or motive, they believe they have determined the cause of death for both victims.
Police Chief Harry Dolan says former Saint Paul high school teacher Sam Braswell and his housekeeper Elizabeth Baxley died after they were struck in the head while in their home last Wednesday.
Braswell was to appear in court Thursday to fight charges that he molested a 9-year-old boy. Friends, neighbors and former co-workers say they don't believe he was guilty of that crime.
Braswell and Baxley's charred bodies were found in his home.
