Preliminary Results Show Johnston Students Above Average

SMITHFIELD — The school year is wrapping up formost North Carolina students Friday, but In Johnston County, schoolleaders are also getting results of end-of-grade test scores.

Preliminary numbers look good. They show fourth-graders ahead of thestate average with 77 percent of students scoring at-or-above grade levelin reading and 83 percent above average in math.

Seventh-graders also beat the average scoring 74 percent proficiency inreading and 79 percent in math.
