Police found the bodies, believed to badly burned, inside a houseon MacArthur Street. Elizabeth Baxley, 78, and Sam Braswell, 57, lived inthe house and are believed to be the victims, although the bodies have notbeen officially identified.
There was a fire at the scene, possibly set to cover up a crime. Investigators won't say much about what they found, except that therewere signs of a homicide. Lumberton police called in the SBI to helpwith the investigation.
Police said broken glass just above a window latch indicated the crimemay have been a burglary that escalated to murder.
Braswell, a former Saint Paul's High School teacher, was due in courtThursday on charges he took indecent liberties with a minor.
