Officers Bring Olympic Spirit to Triangle

RALEIGH — The Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics is underway across the state. Here in the triangle, officers are preparing for their role in the run.
They're tossing out the sirens and making some suds. It's the car wash Fundraiser for North Carolina Special Olympics. Today's donations will go to the statewide campaign for Law enforcement Torch Run.
More than 25-hundred officers are taking part in the relay to pass the Special Olympics flame of hope across the state. The final leg of The Law Enforcent Torch Run is next Friday during the Opening Ceremonies.
That's Friday, May 30th in Raleigh. You can head to Hardee's Walnut Creek Amphitheater from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. for the ceremony. The games begn Saturday at 8:00 a.m.
As a note, the Triangle is gearing up for the1999 World Special Olympics Summer Games, featuring 7,000 athletes from more than 150 countries.
