FAYETTEVILLE — Officials in Cumberland County havemade a decision about the location of the county's new jail.
The existing jail is overcrowded and outdated and there has been muchdebate about where to build a new one.
Commissioners have now decided to build a high-rise jail next door tothe existing one. Monday night, two commissioners made an eleventh hourpitch for a low-rise facility in the downtown area, but a majority of theboard settled on the high-rise.
