Raleigh, N.C. — This year's State Fair will have an "American Idol" feel, with several members of the hit show appearing on stage.
Ruben Studdard, the 2003 "American Idol" winner, is scheduled to perform at Oct. 14.
Albemarle native Kellie Pickler will perform hits from her debut album on Oct. 16, Chris Daughtry, who is from Guilford County, is scheduled to appear on Oct. 20. Both competed in the 2006 season.
Other music stars slated to appear are Sara Evans, Josh Turner, Trace Adkins and MercyMe.
The 2007 festival will provide a flair for Southern food as celebrity chef Paula Deen will bring her Southern charm and savvy on Oct. 17.
The 2007 State Fair will run from Oct. 12 to Oct. 21.

Honestly, I can't believe that WRAL got that rattled over those comments. Reuben is not from here (Alabama) and won Idol YEARS AGO. (his gospel albums are great but he's not as mainstream as he was when he won.
Paula Deen is constantly on t.v. lately. (kidding)
Honestly though, if I ever was that seriously offended with WRAL's conduct I'd just stop reading them and it would certainly be something more serious then this. Don't get me wrong, I'll be the first to stand up if something is seriously wrong racially, but this doesn't EVEN qualify! WRAL, if you buckle this quickly over a fluff piece like this I hate to see how many changes you'll make if something really important comes along.
