Busy RTP Road Reopens

Posted May 10, 1997

— Earlier than expected, repair work on Davis Drive between Morrisville-Carpenter Road and Morrisville Parkway has been completed.

The heavily traveled road reopened Friday, five days ahead of schedule.

On Tuesday, a Department of Transportation engineer had condemned a bridge spanning the overflow of Crabtree Creek, citing cracked wooden supports. Workers removed the bridge and replaced it with a culvert.

The stretch carries more than 11,000 cars daily. Drivers had been routed onto NC 54 east of the construction, which created snarls during rush hour.
