Peace Runners Pass Through Carrboro
Posted April 28, 1997
CARRBORO — Some say making peace is a process best undertaken one step at a time. The nationwide Peace Run got one step closer to its goal when runners passed through Carrboro Sunday.
The message behind the run is to bring peace to the world by starting with individual cities and communities.
Barbara Hartley coordinated the effort for North Carolina. She says peace is not just something that happens when there's no war.
The Peace Run has been held every year since 1987 in 70 nations. This year's run ends in New York City on August 16.
