CARY — Vance Heafner says the greens at Cary'sPrestonwood won't look as pretty as normal when the Golf Channel televisesthe Nike Classic in about two weeks.

But the tire tracks on 25 of 54 greens will not delay or otherwiseaffect the golf tournament, which starts May 8, said Heafner,Prestonwood's golf director.

"This is something we can't tolerate," Heafner said. "We have to set anexample and let people know we will prosecute you."

Police have charged three Camp Lejeune Marines -- Casey Hane, MichaelLucas and Jacob Stoulil -- with vandalism andlarceny in connection with the early Sunday morning damage. Hane, whopolice say was driving the Jeep Wrangler that caused the damage, also hasbeen charged with driving while intoxicated.

Prestonwood officials estimate that the Jeep caused $50,000 in damage.Police said they recovered about $1,100 in golf course property when theyarrested the three Marines.
