CARY — It was a deadly weekend on North Carolina roads.Troopers say the death toll was more appropriate for a holiday weekend.A total of 18 people died on state highways, and one of those was involvedin an accident at a Cary intersection known for its danger.
Three people were injured in the accident and 72-year-old JillianShurbert of Cary was killed.
Area residents are concerned about their safety, and are calling foraction. They say they've seen too many accidents at the intersection ofCary Parkway and Bond Lake Drive.
Cary resident Antonio Gutierrez lives near the intersection and has adaughter who will begin driving soon.
The State Department of Transportation has received a request toinstall a traffic light at that intersection.
