HOUSTON — The National Hurricane Conference presented its 1997 Media Award to WRAL-TV5, WB50, WRAL-FM and North Carolina News Networks, all owned by Capitol Broadcasting, for coverage of Hurricanes Fran and Bertha.
WRAL's Chief Meteorologist, Greg Fishel, attended the conference in Houston and accepted the award.
The awards committee said Capitol Broadcasting provided essential information before and after both storms for hundreds of thousands of residents.
