<b>RALEIGH</b> — A Wake County man has been sentenced to16-to-20 months in prison for shaking his infant daughter to death.

Monday a jury found John Ballard guilty of voluntary manslaughter forthe 1995 death of his f19-day-old daughter. Ballard says he was carryingthe baby and fell down the stairs, hitting the baby's head on the stairsand railing. He said she would not stop crying so he began shaking herwithout realizing it.
