Tornado Watch Affects Part of N.C.

Posted April 21, 1997

— The National Weather Service issued a tornado watch until 10 p.m. Monday for much of eastern North Carolina.

The watch area extended from the coast to a line running north-northeast from Lumberton at the southern end, through Goldsboro and Tarboro, to Ahoskie at the northern end.

There were storms with hail reported in parts of the watch area at 6 p.m. Monday.

A tornado watch means that conditions exist for the possible development of tornados. Residents of those areas in the watch zone should be alert to the possibility of tornado development.
