RALEIGH — Low income elderly residents now have a new place they can call home in Raleigh. Governor Hunt attended Thursday's grand opening of The Magnolias, a 40-unit retirement community.
Apartments will rent for around $360 per month. Developers say the complex provides quality independent living for the elderly, a luxury once reserved for more affluent retirees.
Bessie Alston, a new resident of The Magnolias, says this type of place has been needed for a long time.
The property is modeled after another retirement community that earned a Housing North Carolina award.
