Durham Clerk Fatally Shot

DURHAM — A shooting at a Durham convenience store hasleft its clerk dead.

Police say someone walked into the Stop One convenience store at 1600Holloway Street around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday. The robber took money and left the store.

But the suspect came back into the store to take what he thought was a video camera. Authorities say that'swhen the suspect shot a 37-year-old store clerk in the head and in theback. The camera was not real.

The victim was taken to Duke University Medical Center, where he died a little more than two hours later.

Police are talking to witnesses, one of whom was a relative of thevictim. There was also another clerk working in the store at the time ofthe murder.

Police say they have no suspects.
