DURHAM — A shooting at a Durham convenience store has left its clerk dead.
Police say someone walked into the Stop One convenience store at 1600 Holloway Street around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday. The robber took money and left the store.
But the suspect came back into the store to take what he thought was a video camera. Authorities say that's when the suspect shot a 37-year-old store clerk in the head and in the back. The camera was not real.
The victim was taken to Duke University Medical Center, where he died a little more than two hours later.
Police are talking to witnesses, one of whom was a relative of the victim. There was also another clerk working in the store at the time of the murder.
Police say they have no suspects.
