Walking Should Be Safer at UNC
Posted April 7, 1997
CHAPEL HILL — There are people looking out for walkers on the UNC-Chapel Hill campus. Starting Monday, university police are issuing warnings to anyone who shows a blatant disregard for pedestrian safety.
After a week-long warning phase, police will begin writing formal citations. Anyone who gets one will face a fine and may have to appear in court.
Good behavior will also be noted. Those who go out of their way to keep pedestrians safe may receive a thank-you note from police.
