Major Damage, But No Injuries in Asphalt Plant Fire

— An asphalt plant fire in Cumberland Count caused thousands of dollars in damage. The blaze started at about 6 a.m. Thursday at McDiarmid Paving Company.

Workers using a propane torch to work on a pump started the fire at the family-run company that's been in business for 37 years. No one was hurt, but damages are estimated at $40,000.
