The House tentatively approved a measure Wednesday that removescriminal penalties for clerks who sell tobacco to minors and imposes finesinstead. The Senate wants clerks to face criminal penalties.
The two sides will have to reach an agreement before sending the billon the the governor.
Meanwhile, the House also granted preliminary approval Wednesday to agraduated license bill. The measure would force teen drivers to prove theyare safe behind the wheel before receiving unrestricted driving rights.
The House version on penalizes teen drivers for six months if they geta ticket while training.
A final vote could come on that bill Thursday.
