Durham Synagogue Vandalized
Posted April 1, 1997
DURHAM — Leaders of a Durham synagogue will have to repaint their house of worship after vandals spray-painted part of the temple.
The staff covered up most of the grafitti with cardboard. Rabbi John Friedman of the Judeah Reform congregation says he's convinced the painting was a prank, not an act of hate, and that he's trying to keep the incident in perspective.
The vandalism occurred sometime between late Monday night and early Tuesday morning.
Durham police are investigating.
