ELIZABETH CITY — The Coast Guard pulled six people from Currituck Sound after their pontoon boat capsized.
Eight people had been aboard the craft, but two left to swim and wade the two miles to shore to get help. The three adults and three children who remained behind were uninjured and all were wearing life jackets.
A Coast Guard helicopter picked up children ages 3, 7 and 15. The boat was registered to Amos Henley, 61, of Virginia Beach.
He was rescued along with June Henley, Emily and John Laughlin, Olivia Camarero and Olivia Cuadrado. Their hometowns were not available.
