ROANOKE RAPIDS — Motorists along Interstate 95 near Roanoke Rapids have been concerned about a puppy with a broken leg that had been wandering alongside the roadway. She's now in good hands.
The Humane Society was finally able to catch her and take her to a veterinarian. There, her leg was fixed, and she will recuperate until she is ready for adoption.
The terrier mix had attracted a lot of attention. People wanted to help her but she managed to scoot just out of catching distance until the humane society people stepped in.
She had been relying on picnic table scraps of tourists to survive.
