CLAYTON — Those who went to the polls Tuesday in Claytongave their overwhelming approval in an "on-premise" beer referendum.
Many supporters said the vote shows progress for the Johnston Countytown, and that the ban on selling beer has hurt the area's restaurantbusiness. Opponents had said Clayton could attract new growth without beersales.
A county-wide vote is scheduled for May to allow mixed drinks.
