CLAYTON — To sell or not to sell ... beer, that is. That's the issue facing voters in Clayton.
Votes were to be cast Tuesday on an "on-premise" beer referendum. Many supporters say the measure is part of progress, and that the ban on selling beer is bad for the restaurant business. Opponents say Clayton can attract new growth without beer sales.
A county-wide vote is scheduled for May to allow mixed drinks in Johnston County.
