When President Clinton's plane touched down at RDU International Airport, there were plenty of school children on hand to make him feel welcome. It was an appropriate welcome, considering that they were the subject of his speech to North Carolina lawmakers.

The dozens of students came from Greensboro and from Davis Drive Elementary in Apex.

For some, such as Shannon Farrar of Davis Drive Elementary, it was the handshake of a lifetime.

There was also a contingent of local military personnel on hand to welcome the president. Many came with cameras in hand to snap a shot of the Commander-in-Chief.
