RALEIGH — A lawsuit filed against the state claims there's not enough being done to help prison inmates who are mentally or emotionally handicapped or learning-disabled.
North Carolina Prison Legal Services filed the lawsuit over a year ago and it is now scheduled to be heard this coming fall. Special education programs now help 113 inmates, but the suit claims 725 should be in the programs.
