Authorities Drop Charges Against Man in Two Attacks

print friendly

Police say they charged the wrong man with two attacks on females in Cumberland County, and are now concerned the person they're looking for is still on the streets.

Archie James Knight, 34, has been cleared in those cases, although he remains in a prison hospital after attempting suicide in jail.

The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office says Knight still faces charges in the rape of a convenience store clerk March 2 at The Pantry store on Hope Mills Road. He was charged with second-degree rape, second-degree sex offense and first-degree kidnapping.
