CHAPEL HILL — The case of a University of North Carolina student accused of contributing to his girlfriend's fall down an elevator shaft has been continued.
Police charged Thomas Suddarth with assault in January after he pushed Evelyn Bankov against the elevator doors in Granville Towers with such force that the doors opened, sending her plunging six stories down the shaft.
Bankov's injuries were not life-threatening. Granville Towers is a private residence hall in Chapel Hill.
