RALEIGH — Some disappointing test scores achieved by minority students are prompting action in North Carolina. A day-long summit is scheduled for March to address the problem.
Scores show only 36 percent of minority students scored at or above grade level in grades 3 - 8. That compares to 70 percent of white students.
Of particular concern are black males, of whom only 31 percent reached or exceeded grade level.
