DURHAM — If the spring-like weather has you in the mood for yard work, Hurricane Fran has left a helpful legacy.
Mulch from the mountains of debris in Durham will be made available free to the public.
Anyone willing to shovel the mulch may take as much as a pickup truck full from the old Durham County fairgrounds.
Dates for taking home mulch are March 1 - 2 and March 15 - 16. Be sure to bring a shovel.
Meanwhile, the last collection of hurricane debris is underway and will end March 9. Workers will pick up tree debris left by the curb along state maintained roads.
If your location meets that criteria, you're asked to call 919-732-4330 to schedule a collection time.
