Terrell Harris, 17, the intended target of the shooting,turned himself in to police about 9 p.m. Thursday. Policehave issued arrest warrants for Tyrell Robert Beal, 20, and David Ashley,17, for assault with a deadly weapon, inflicting serious injury. Policesuspect Ashley drove the Ford Taurus that sped away after the shooting,and that Beal fired a pistol from the front passenger seat.
The neighborhood erupted in gunfire from a passing car about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday. When the car left, Jermaine Huggins lay bleeding on the frontporch of his home, shot in the torso. Jermaine was in guarded conditionFriday at Wake Medical Center.
Cleanthony McNeill, the child's father, said he had been cooking in back of the house when the shots rang out. When he got to the front yard,theonly one left on the street was his son, felled by a bullet.
Witnesses say the teen who was the intended victimran into the house when he saw two men in a blue, late-model Ford Taurusapproaching. About 10 shots were fired at the front of the house before the car sped away.
Police say there is a great deal of drug activity in the area, and theybelieve the shooting was drug-related.
