Arena Deadline Looming, Sabates Concerned

RALEIGH — The man leading the bid for a national Hockey League expansion team in Raleigh says a lease agreement for a new arena has to come soon ... very soon.
Felix Sabates told WRAL-TV5's crew in Daytona Beach that this Friday is the deadline for an agreement, and said he might pull out of the deal if Raleigh and Wake County officials don't wrap things up this week.
Officials for the Centennial Authority, the group with responsibility for raising funds to build an arena, say a Friday deadline is impossible. City and county officials still have to work out all the financing details.
