SANFORD — The trial of Donald Abercrombie began Monday in Lee County, even though police have never found the bodies of his alleged victims.
Abercrombie is accused of killing 79-year-old Hoyle Smith and 66-year-old Helen Boone in late 1995.
Abercrombie is already in jail after pleading guilty to several charges following a 17-hour standoff in Fayetteville.
