DURHAM — A federal grand jury is debating whether to try a Durham V.A. Hospital patient for murder.
Charlie Boyd, 77, told authorities he beat 100-year-old George Beaty with an aluminum walker because Beaty wouldn't be quiet. Beaty died during the attack.
Boyd, a World War II veteran underwent a lobotomy in the 1940's after using a machete to kill a man.
