LUMBERTON, N.C. — Two people, one of them a 5-year-old child, are dead following an accident on Interstate 95 in Robeson County Thursday.
Troopers say a young couple and their son were traveling from New Jersey to Florida in a rental truck.
Investigators say the truck apparently struck the back of a tractor-trailer, ran off the road, hit a stand of pine trees then overturned.
Meanwhile, Investigators are searching for the cause of a second deadly wreck here. The man who died was traveling on State Road 1757 when his pickup truck went off the road and struck a tree.
Jerry Godwin, 38, was pronounced dead at the scene at about 10 p.m. Thursday.
