RALEIGH — New figures are in on costs associated with Hurricane Fran and its aftermath.
The government has paid or agreed to pay $561 million in relief to 70,300 applicants. With a February 4, 1997 deadline in place for filing applications for relief, there is the possibility that figure could climb a bit more.
It is estimated that the destructive storm cost the state $4.5 billion in property damage and tourism disruption.
