FAYETTEVILLE — The Martin Luther King, Jr. parade in Fayetteville has been called off for this year. The annual even was scheduled for January 18, but only 30 groups had signed up by the deadline.
In years past, the parade boasted 80-to-100 entrants. Organizers say they plan to try to raise support for the event again in 1998.
A prayer breakfast, candlelight vigil and worship service honoring the civil rights leader are still planned for this month in Fayetteville.
