FAYETTEVILLE — A 4-year-old foster child is in a coma after suffering severe head injuries during an assault in Cumberland County.
Jennifer Babcock was staying in a home in the La Grange subdivision when a 13-year-old girl allegedly picked her up and threw her Wednesday. The teenager has been charged with assault and is in the county's juvenile detention center.
Chief Deputy Cuyler Windham of the sheriff's office says Babcock was taken immediately to a hospital.
Neighbors say the family had lived in the house for only about a month.
