DURHAM — A former Durham jailer is facing charges for allegedly stealing money from an inmate.
The 23-year-old Roxboro man's job included checking-in prisoners belongings. Investigators say he took $165 that was supposed to be put away for safe keeping.
The jailer resigned shortly after the investigation began. He has been freed on a $1,000 bond.
