RALEIGH — Some Southeast Raleigh families will bewarmer this winter thanks to a joint fundraising effort.
Nearly 100,000 homes in Raleigh have inadequate heat or no heat at all.So the "Heat for Homes" roadrace has raised $32,000 to turn up thetemperature in those homes.
Phyllis Hinton became the first of 35 people to receive new heatersWednesday.
The program is a collaborative effort between the City of Raleigh,Wake Opportunities and Rex Hospital.
