Holiday Cheer Abounds at Raleigh Capitol

print friendly

The Capitol was the place to be Tuesday night for holiday spirit Raleigh-style. It was a night of Christmas tradition at the State Capitol.

The festivities began at 5:30 with the sounds of the Millbrook High School chorus, followed by the Raleigh Concert Band.

Then, at about 6:30, Governor Jim Hunt lit the official Christmas tree, which he jokingly said was much nicer than the one at the national Capitol.

Hunt also joked that he wanted to be re-elected just so he could light the tree four more times.
