WAKE FOREST — About 200 employees of Sprint'smid-Atlantic headquarters in Wake Forest have been notified that they mayhave to move, or face losing their jobs.
The workers were told Monday, December 2 that Sprint was consolidatingoperations and that the company's finance offices would be moved to itsKansas City headquarters. The 200 employees will have three options. Theymay bid on Kansas City jobs, leave the company or take early retirement.
The move is part of a year-long internal reorganization at thelong-distance telephone service company. They expect to complete thecurrent move by the end of 1997.
Sprint's Wake Forest operation employs over 650 people, most inadministrative positions.
