Sprint Employees Notified of Mandatory Transfers
Posted December 9, 1996
WAKE FOREST — About 200 employees of Sprint's mid-Atlantic headquarters in Wake Forest have been notified that they may have to move, or face losing their jobs.
The workers were told Monday, December 2 that Sprint was consolidating operations and that the company's finance offices would be moved to its Kansas City headquarters. The 200 employees will have three options. They may bid on Kansas City jobs, leave the company or take early retirement.
The move is part of a year-long internal reorganization at the long-distance telephone service company. They expect to complete the current move by the end of 1997.
Sprint's Wake Forest operation employs over 650 people, most in administrative positions.
