Police Seeking True Identity of Man Who Claimed Carjacking

RALEIGH — Raleigh police say they are trying to find the real identity of a man who claimed to be the victim of a carjacking last week.
John Kaczmarek is now charged with filing a false police report after a tip led police to believe he faked the carjacking charge. Kaczmarek had said he was robbed of his car at gunpoint at a North Raleigh carwash.
Sgt. Gerald Britt of the Raleigh Police Department says authorities are concerned about the alarm created by Kaczmarek's alleged false report.
Police say Kaczmarek has filed false claims with insurance agencies int he past, some of them under different names.
